Kadonosono et al developed a new surgical treatment in which a microneedle is used for retinal endovascular cannulation to treat eyes with central retinal vein occlusion by flushing thrombus out of the central retinal vein as it passes through the lamina cribrosa. The eyes of 12 consecutive patients were successfully treated using this technique.

To ascertain whether subcortical visual input contributes to the asymmetrical monocular optokinetic responses that characterize infantile esotropia, Brodsky and Klaehn performed the optokinetic uncover test in 7 patients with isolated infantile esotropia and in 3 patients with infantile esotropia syndrome associated with mild neurological disease.

JAMA Ophthalmol. 2013;131(6):766-776. doi:10.1001/jamaophthalmol.2013.2385

Schmidt et al test the hypotheses that lubricin is produced by ocular surface epithelia and acts to protect the cornea and conjunctiva against significant shear forces generated during an eyelid blink and that lubricin deficiency increases shear stress on the ocular surface and promotes corneal damage.
