Perry officials plan to reopen schools after deadly shooting
Perry Community School District officials announced a new plan Friday to reopen schools after this month's deadly school shooting.
Perry Elementary students will return to class on Wednesday. But first, they have an open house Tuesday with counseling services.
Middle schoolers have a similar open house on Wednesday, and they go back to class Thursday.
High schoolers return the next Wednesday, Jan. 31.
All grades have early dismissal until further notice.
Perry High School student Dylan Butler, 17, killed sixth-grader Ahmir Jolliff and wounded seven other people in the shooting on Jan. 4 before killing himself. High School principal Dan Marburger, one of those seven, died 10 days later.
Authorities have provided no information about a possible motive or how Butler, who they believe acted alone, obtained the firearms.
Butler's parents released a statement Monday saying, in part, "We had no inkling he intended the horrible violence he was about to inflict."
