THIS IS BREAKING NEWS. THE PERRY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE CITY OF PERRY ARE SHARING AN UPDATE NOW ON YESTERDAY’S SHOOTING, AND MOMENTS AGO, AUTHORITIES RELEASED THE NAME OF THE 11 YEAR OLD SIXTH GRADE STUDENT WHO WAS KILLED. IT’S AMIR JOLLIFF, AMIR’S CAUSE OF DEATH WAS DETERMINED TO BE THREE GUNSHOT WOUNDS AND HIS MANNER OF DEATH HAS BEEN RULED A HOMICIDE AND SEVEN OTHER PEOPLE TOTAL WERE HURT DURING THE INCIDENT. THAT’S ACCORDING TO THE DIVISION OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION. IT IS A HIGHER NUMBER THAN THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY REPORTED. THREE OF THE VICTIMS ARE SCHOOL STAFF MEMBERS, INCLUDING PRINCIPAL DAN MARBURGER. HE IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION. AUTHORITIES SAY MARBURGER PUT HIMSELF IN HARM’S WAY TO PROTECT STUDENTS. THEY HAVE NOT CONFIRMED HOW THE OTHER TWO STAFF MEMBERS ARE CURRENTLY DOING. TWO OF THE FOUR STUDENTS WHO WERE WOUNDED ARE CURRENTLY HOSPITALIZED. THE OTHER TWO HAVE BEEN TREATED AND RELEASED. INVESTIGATORS ARE COMBING THROUGH DIGITAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA EVIDENCE TO TRY TO PIECE TOGETHER WHAT LED UP TO THIS TRAGIC EVENT, AS AUTHORITIES SAID YESTERDAY AND CONFIRMED TODAY, THE SHOOTER, 17 YEAR OLD DILLON BUTLE

Ahmir Jolliff was killed Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, before classes started at the school building shared by middle school and high school students in Perry, Iowa. The sixth-grader was shot three times by a 17-year-old high school student. Ahmir Jolliff was killed Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, before classes started at the school building shared by middle school and high school students in Perry, Iowa.

The sixth-grader was shot three times by a 17-year-old high school student. Seven others, including the school’s principal, two other staff members and four students, were wounded before the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
