Iowa election: Donald Trump wins Iowa for third time

The Associated Press has called Iowa for former President Donald Trump.This is the third consecutive presidential election in which Trump won Iowa’s popular vote and received the state’s six electoral college votes. He is the projected winner of the national race as well, according to the AP, and will win a second term in the White House.Formerly considered a swing state, Iowa has proved to be a clear example of Trump's appeal among Republican voters and his staying power in the GOP. A majority of Iowans backed Democrat Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012 but chose Trump decisively in 2016 and again in 2020.
