WE ARE LIVE IN IOWA CITY RIGHT OUTSIDE OF KINNICK STADIUM. FANS ARE UP AND THEY ARE GETTING THIS PARTY STARTED FOR THIS BIG RIVALRY GAME. WE’VE SEEN THEM ALL WALKING AROUND THE STADIUM. TAILGATING HAS BEGUN. IT DOESN’T OFFICIALLY OPEN AROUND 830, SO IT’S SLOWLY SEEPING IN HERE. BUT CHECK OUT THIS FAN HAD TO PULL HIM IN TO EXPLAIN THIS. SIR, WELCOME TO THE GAME. YOU’RE AN IOWA STATE FAN AND A HAWKEYE 59 YEARS A HAWKEYE SEASON TICKET HOLDER, AND THE GRANDSON IS NOW A TIGHT END AT IOWA STATE. SO YOU GOT TO PULL FOR BOTH. YOU GOT TO PULL FOR BOTH. SO NUMBER 84, MAKE SURE YOU WATCH FOR HIM. WHAT’S IT LIKE BEING A GRANDFATHER IN THE STANDS THERE? 69,000 PEOPLE WHO WILL BE PACKED THIS STADIUM TODAY. AND YOU’RE GOING TO BE WATCHING YOUR GRANDSON? I CAN’T IMAGINE HOW THAT FEELS. IT FEELS GREAT. BLOOD. BLOOD IS THICKER THAN HAWKEYES. I’M SORRY. SO I’LL BE ROOTING FOR THE CYCLONES. I THINK, QUITE A BIT. AND IT’S GOING TO BE FUN. IT’S GOING TO BE FUN. IT’S SO GREAT TO HAVE YOU OUT EARLY THIS MORNING. WE ALSO HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON HERE TOO. SO, MR. JANSEN, YOU ARE IN TOWN SUPPORTING THE CYCLONES. BUT THERE’S SOMEONE VERY SPECIAL RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET AT THE HOSPITAL. YEAH, MY DAD’S ACROSS THE STREET. HE HAD BRAIN SURGERY EARLIER THIS WEEK AND SO KIND OF BREAK UP THE MONOTONY OF THE HOSPITAL AND THE HOSPITAL FOOD A LITTLE BIT. GET OUT HERE AND TAILGATE AND SUPPORT THE CYCLONES. AND THAT’S KIND OF THE EMOTIONAL PART OF KINNICK BEING RIGHT NEXT TO THE STADIUM. THE WAVE IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT TRADITION. NOW HERE AMONG THE HAWKEYE FANS AND REALLY THROUGHOUT THE STATE. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU TO BE IN THIS GAME HAVING THIS MOMENT AND KNOWING YOUR DAD IS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET? IT’S A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE. WE WERE HERE LAST WEEKEND AS WELL, SO JUST JUST KIND OF EXPERIENCE THAT FROM THE HAWKEYE VIEW OF THINGS. BUT YEAH, THE THE WAVE AND EVERYTHING, IT’S A VERY UNIQUE THING FOR HERE IN A VERY, VERY THING. GOOD THING FOR COLLEGE SPORTS AS WELL. IT REALLY IS. GENTLEMEN, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US THIS MORNING. I’LL LET YOU GET GOING TO TAIL
