Iowa State fans readying for Cy-Hawk showdown this weekend
ONE. WE’LL SEE IF YOU’RE RIGHT. ALL RIGHT. THANKS, SCOTT. WELL, THE TEAMS ARE PUTTING IN THE WORK ON THE PRACTICE FIELD THIS WEEK, BUT THEY AREN’T THE ONLY ONES GETTING HYPED FOR KICKOFF. THAT’S RIGHT. vlog IS MARCUS MCINTOSH WENT TO AMES, WHERE SOME STUDENTS TOLD HIM THEY ARE EXCITED TO MAKE THE TRIP TO IOWA CITY. WE ARE IN CAMPUSTOWN IN AMES. JUST STEPS AWAY FROM THE IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, WHERE WE MET STUDENTS WHO ARE TAKING THE MORE THAN 120 MILE TRIP TO THE BIG CY-HAWK SHOWDOWN IN IOWA CITY. BECAUSE I THINK IT’S THE FUNNEST GAME OF THE YEAR, AND I REALLY ENJOY WATCHING THE SHOWDOWN BETWEEN THE TWO TEAMS. I’M A HUGE IOWA STATE FAN, AND THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME GETTING TO SEE IT IN IOWA CITY. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, STUDENTS IN CAMPUSTOWN ARE VERY TALKATIVE WHEN IT COMES TO THE BIG GAME. EXCITED, EMOTIONAL, AND RIVALRY ARE THE WORDS THAT SCORE BIG, BUT NOT EVERYONE MAKING THE TRIP TO IOWA CITY WILL BE ABLE TO WATCH THE MATCHUP INSIDE KINNICK STADIUM. SOME ARE HOPEFUL THERE ARE DEALS TO BE MADE IF THEY’RE CHEAP ENOUGH, MAYBE. BUT AS OF NOW, NO. IT’S GOING TO BE IN TOWN. STUDENTS NOT HEADING TO IOWA CITY FOR THE GAME WILL HAVE OPTIONS TO WATCH IN AMES, INCLUDING WALLABIES BAR AND GRILL, THEIR SIZE STATUE INVITING PEOPLE IN FOR THE BIG GAME. A WEALTH OF CYCLONE MEMORABILIA IS JUST ABOUT EVERYWHERE, AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME, INCLUDING PEOPLE CLAD IN BLACK AND GOLD WHERE FOOD AWAITS THEM. WE DO ALLOW THAT IN THE BUILDING. WE ACTUALLY HAVE A MENU ITEM NAMED HAWKEYE WINGS, WHICH ARE BONELESS AND SPINELESS. I HATE TO SAY IT THAT WAY, BUT. CARMEL EXPECTS A FULL AND LIVELY CROWD SATURDAY, BUT ADMITS IT WOULD BE A MUCH MORE INTENSE ATMOSPHERE IF THE GAME WERE BEING PLAYED AT JACK TRICE STADIUM
