Iowa State fans readying for Cy-Hawk showdown this weekend
Iowa State University students are excited for the Cy-Hawk football game this Saturday and can't wait to make the trip east to Iowa City.
"I think it is the most fun game of the year," said Gracie Wilcox, an ISU senior.
Wilcox is not the only ISU student going to Iowa City to watch the game inside Kinnick Stadium.
Others who are going are hoping to catch a deal on tickets.
"If they are cheap enough, maybe," said Landon Maggart, an ISU junior.
"Excited," "emotional" and "rivalry" are the words that score big when describing the heated football game between Iowa State and the University of Iowa.
Students not heading to Iowa City for the game will have options to watch in Ames, including at Wallaby's Bar and Grille. The restaurant's Cy statue is inviting people in for the big game. A wealth of Cyclone memorabilia is just about everywhere. Everyone is welcome, including people who are clad in black and gold. Food awaits them at the restaurant.
"We actually have a menu item named Hawkeye wings, which are boneless and spineless. I hate to say it that way, but," said Rick Carmer, of Wallaby's Bar and Grille.
Carmer admits the atmosphere would be much more intense if the game were being played at Jack Trice Stadium, but he still expects a full building and lively crowd.
