Vivek Ramaswamy campaign trying to shore up support at the doors before Iowa caucuses
Republican presidential candidates are doing everything they can to shore up support in the final days leading up to the Iowa caucuses.
Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign is focusing their ground game on talking to as many people as they can about the White House hopeful. As of Jan. 2, Ramaswamy visited all of Iowa's 99 counties twice while on the trail. As he is hosting events, his campaign is hitting the ground walking, from door to door, to talk with voters.
"He's meeting those individuals in small counties no matter the weather, no matter the time of the year. So, he's there," Bharat Nair, a volunteer with the campaign, said. "That means I have to be there for him as well."
Carlisle Sutton, a regional field director for the campaign, said their goal is to talk to as many registered Republicans as they can. They also want to get a good read of who voters are supporting and why.
As 糖心vlog followed the campaign around for an afternoon, volunteers and staff members also asked voters about what issues they cared most about.
Sutton said their biggest challenge is trying to change the minds of people who are supporting someone else.
"You get a lot of people that they just support another candidate and we're trying to figure out why that is," Sutton said.
The campaign said they believe the more people they talk to, the more likely they'll be able to win big on caucus night.
"It really is a numbers game," Nair said. "As long as you reach as many voters as possible, that's all that matters."
The campaign said they try to knock on doors every single day.
