Perry schools superintendent Clark Wicks said classes for high school students will be canceled all next week and the earliest classes will resume for elementary and middle school students will be Friday, Jan. 12.That will allow crews to repair and clean the building where a 17-year-old student shot and killed a sixth-grader Thursday and wounded seven others before killing himself, and for the entire community to begin the healing process.Wicks spoke at a news conference at Perry's Hotel Pattee Friday afternoon just minutes after authorities identified 11-year-old Ahmir Jolliff as the sixth-grader who was killed. He said school officials are focused on supporting students and faculty, so even though schools will be closed, mental health professionals will be available to students and staff, and grab-and-go lunches will be available at Perry Elementary each day from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.Perry High School Principal Dan Marburger is the only other victim who has been publicly identified. Authorities on Friday said he was one of three staffers wounded, along with four students. It wasn’t immediately clear if all seven were shot, and spokespersons did not immediately respond to inquiries seeking clarity.
