Iowa star Caitlin Clark sweeps player of the year awards
Iowa junior Caitlin Clark has added another player of the year award to her resume.
Clark, fresh off a record-setting NCAA Tournament run in which the Hawkeyes reached the championship game, was named Wooden Award National Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Clark swept the five major player of the year awards after becoming the first player to surpass 1,000 points and 300 assists in one season. She was named Naismith and AP player of the year and won the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Ann Meyers Drysdale award and Women's Basketball Coaches Association Wade Trophy.
Her 191 points in the NCAA Tournament set a new record, breaking the mark of 177 set in 1993 by Sheryl Swoopes of Texas Tech. Clark also surpassed the men's record of 184 points. Glen Rice did that in 1989 for Michigan.
The Hawkeyes fell on Sunday to LSU, 102-85, in the NCAA championship game.
