Imogen, *** town of 80 some people in southwest Iowa, has *** humorous monthly magazine, newspaper, The Imogen Hub. *** headline in one issue read, Imogene Zoo Closes. The one sentence stories followed, the chicken died. From dead chickens to farmers with bird droppings on their shirts, the Imogene hub tackles the hard hitting issues other newspapers are afraid of. Virginia Keisling is the head honcho at the hub. In fact, she's the only honcho covering all the news in Imogene, the place she calls the hub of the universe, *** lofty task for someone with little practical experience. I said, I did do some fiction writing in Omaha and they said, Oh really? I said, Yeah, my boss's expense account every month, you know, that was fiction. While Imogene, Iowa is the hub of the universe, it's not *** terribly large hub. Only about 80 people live here, so as you might expect, news stories are kind of few and far between. Well, Veronica has an answer to that. We make it up. For example, Imogene was without *** women's club. Veronica had *** simple answer. He started the 5 meta Sigma or the PMS. And it's just imagination, but we use actual people from around here and and filter their personalities into these minutes of the meeting. No men in that club, but that doesn't seem to bother anyone. I think the hub is probably the finest paper in image. fantastic. Veronica thinks so too, and if she's learned anything in her 15 years as editor, writer and publisher of The Hub. Maybe lighten up. I mean really we need to, everybody needs to, you can, and that's what it's for it's just to, you know, make people laugh. From the News Channel 8 live link in Imogene, Iowa, I'm Phil Johnston.
