The Ringling Bros. have been visiting Des Moines for generations. But in 1981, their trip to Iowa's capitol city was tougher than most. The traveling circus company's train derailed in Illinois, putting them behind schedule for their show at Veterans Memorial Auditorium.Luckily, no animals or performers were injured, and, as they always say, the show must go on.
