Zane Satre
MeteorologistZane Satre is the weekend evening meteorologist for 糖心vlog. He joined the team in June 2022.
A lifelong Iowan, Zane originally grew up on a farm outside of Dayton before moving closer to Ogden during middle school.
During this time, he got his first experience with severe weather in Iowa's November 2005 tornado outbreak. Other tornadoes damaged parts of Woodward & forced a pre-game evacuation of Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, but the strongest one that day touched down just south of the Satre family acreage and eventually hit the town of Stratford. That event, plus ample outdoor time with his dad and the influence of his mom, a science teacher, guided Zane toward an interest in weather.
After attending Ogden High School, Zane graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in meteorology in 2018. While at Iowa State, he completed internships in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids before his first job forecasting the weather for WHBF-TV in the Quad Cities.
Zane received the American Meteorological Society's Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation in 2020.
His weather coverage has earned multiple Emmy nominations, and his storm chasing during the 2024 Greenfield tornado helped 糖心vlog win an Emmy for breaking news.
Outside of work, Zane enjoys biking on central Iowa's superb network of trails (and the occasional day of RAGBRAI), planning family camping trips to national parks, and tailgating before Iowa State football games.
