For the neuropathologist and for the clinician or scientist with an interest in neuropathology, the Archives of the International Congresses and Society of Neuropathology, 1952-1977, presents a fascinating account of the development of these organizations through written records and photographs. A documentary tracing, from the inception of the First International Congress of Neuropathology in Rome in 1952, provides not only a look at the formal proceedings of each meeting, but also a look behind the scenes at the series of correspondence that initiated the organizational meeting and assured seven consecutive International Congresses and the formation of the International Society of Neuropathology. Letters bearing such signatures as van Bogaert, Ferraro, Greenfield, Gozzano, Roizin, Smith, Wolf, McMenemey, or Black-wood, and photographs by Haymaker, Russell, Bischoff, Bertrand, Lhermitte, Minkowski, Earle, Weil, Christensen, and Seitelberger, give an insight into the personalities behind the names that makes them more than eponyms. Of additional interest
