Abstract

This volume contains the proceedings of the Fifth Congress of the European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery held at Stresa, Italy, in September and October 1976. The editors have compiled these reports under the headings of pathologic features and treatment of posterior fossa lesions, including vascular malformations, hydrocephalus in most of its aspects, supratentorial and spinal tumors of childhood, and developmental abnormalities. Although most of the presentations are in report form, several are abstracts.

The radiologic aspect of each topic is well represented with excellent illustrations. The contribution of computerized tomography is covered in several presentations. As expected, there is a fair amount of overlap in the reports as well as in the varied pathological classifications. However, on the whole, the volume has succeeded in covering the topics outlined and excels in reflecting current evaluation and treatment of posterior fossa problems.
