Abstract

This completely rewritten, extended, and updated text on Tumors of the Breast is number two in the second series of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Fascicles. It retains the basic purpose of "providing an atlas setting standards of diagnosis and terminology."

A brief introduction including sections on epidemiology, host resistance, and theoretical aspects of breast tumor biology does not pretend to cover the extensive information available in books and articles. Unfortunately the references cited were all published before 1966.

The "AFIP Fascicles", are well known among pathologists; they concentrate on presenting a comprehensive discussion and illustration of the diagnostic features of tumors. This present volume fulfills these aims admirably in the area of malignant and benign mammary tumors. In this respect it is invaluable as a daily reference book for practicing pathologists.

The classification of various breast tumors is clear and practical. Superb illustrations render the text easily comprehensible
