In Reply We thank Kacew and Strohbehn for their contributions to the management of clinical uncertainty and response to our article.1 Our own experiences have taught us that both the physician’s and the patient’s comfort with uncertainty influences communication and shared decision-making.2 We agree that more work is needed to reconcile potential patient–physician differences in tolerance for these attributes to improve care in times of clinical uncertainty.
