JAMA. 2023;329(20):1719-1721. doi:10.1001/jama.2023.7306

The Mould That Changed the World1 (hereafter referred to as Mould) is a cheeky musical paean to , the Scottish bacteriologist who shared the 1945 for his discovery of the antimicrobial properties of the mold Penicillium. The show had a fall run in Washington, DC, coinciding with 2022, followed by performances at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, one of which featured a panel discussion with US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Rochelle Walensky.2 Produced by Jess Conway of the Charades Theatre Company in Edinburgh with original songs and lyrics by Robin Hiley, Mould presents a microcosm of contemporary global conflict and change.
