A customer who visited a in Atlanta, Georgia, is alleging she was given a coffee cup filled with cleaning solution.
According to an Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is being sued after a woman was allegedly served cleaning solution instead of coffee. The complaint, filed in Fulton County State Court on Sept. 24, claims that in March, a Chick-fil-A employee poured the customer's coffee refill from a pitcher filled with cleaning solution.
AJC reports that Peavy Law paralegal Corinne Anderson said, "It didn't take long for our client to realize something was wrong with the coffee and she quickly informed the Chick-fil-A employees." The paralegal also noted that not long after the customer ingested the cleaning solution (Urnex/TABZ), she began having "intestinal issues and discomfort in her throat," leading her to see gastroenterologists.
The Chick-fil-A location found video of the cleaning solution incident and offered to pay for the customer's medical expenses, per AJC. However, according to Anderson, it was an amount that didn't "account for the customer's mental and physical suffering or future treatments."
The medical bills cost more than $3,890, and the woman is continuing to seek treatment, the filing states. The complaint also adds that Chick-fil-A had admitted that an employee gave the customer a drink "that was contaminated with cleaning solution."
Paul White, Chick-fil-A Eagles Landing franchise owner, said in a statement, "Food safety and quality are our top priorities at Chick-fil-A Eagles Landing. We are aware of the complaint and are currently investigating. Because this is an ongoing legal matter, we cannot comment further at this time."
According to AJC, the lawsuit "seeks an amount to be determined at trial."
This is not the first time we've heard of such an incident recently. In August, cleaning solution in her coffee.
