HGTV and TLC are teaming up to revive "While You Were Out."The episodes of the new series will air at the same time on both networks.But each network will show a different version of the show. In the show, TLC and HGTV stars will design a room in neighboring houses. While the makeover takes place, a homeowner will send his or her significant other on a vacation — leaving them to be totally surprised when they come home to a new room.Ananda Lewis will serve as host and TLC’s talent will include Carter Oosterhouse, Hildi Santo Tomas, Ty Pennington and Vern Yip, while HGTV’s talent includes Nicole Curtis, Mina Starsiak, Hilary Farr and Vanilla Ice. This version of "While You Were Out" will up the budget from $2,000 per room to $10,000, and each room will have two designers and one carpenter.Production of the new "While You Were Out" begins in Oct., and there’s no specific date yet for a premiere; it will air sometime in 2019. But depending on where you watch it, you might see different scenes. Each episode of "While You Were Out" will air simultaneously on both HGTV and TLC. According to Variety, the TLC episodes will focus more on the relationship between the homeowner and the significant other, while the HGTV episodes will focus more on the home makeover.
