Rossen Reports: When to book your hotel for the holidays
If you are already booking your flights for the holidays, that's a good thing. You may be surprised to hear that it's actually the opposite for booking hotels during the busy holiday season.
Chief National Consumer Correspondent Jeff Rossen has predictions on what prices will look like and when you should book.

When it comes to hotels, the average nightly rate for over Thanksgiving is about $189 per night. That's a 13% increase from last year.
For Christmas, the average rate is about $218 per night, which is a 32% increase from last year.
So when should you book? If you're not going to a popular travel destination, maybe just going to visit relatives, Hopper says to try to be more flexible.
Hotels will start dropping prices, up to 25%, the closer you get to the holiday.
For Thanksgiving, plan to book no later than the first week of November. And for Christmas, book by the first week of December.
However, if you're booking a vacation at a popular destination for several nights, book at least three weeks in advance.
