A long time ago, ... with teen detective Veronica Mars. Played by Kristen Bell, the resourceful investigator had her own show in which she looked into painful mysteries like the murder of her best friend. The cult show "Veronica Mars," which screened on UPN and The CW, was canceled after three seasons, to much outcry. A revived the franchise in 2014 and fans hoped that short revival would signal more to come.
Bell announced on Twitter Thursday that their dreams were coming true:
"BREAKING NEWS out of Mars Investigations!" she wrote. "A new #VeronicaMars series is comin atcha via @hulu. Thank you to all the marshmallows for staying excited and to @Hulu for giving Veronica a chance to wear her big girl pants. I hope we’re still friends after I taser you."
The revival will consist of an eight-episode season and Bell will star as the title character. According to , the season will focus on the murders of spring breakers in Veronica's hometown, Neptune. The new series will come to Hulu in 2019, and the streaming service will also stream the first three seasons beginning next year.
Bell said in her Twitter video, "You'll need to brush up because we're making another one!"
