IN THIS CASE, AN AMBULANCE RIDE HELPED REWRITE THE NEXT CHAPTER FOR A WEST DES MOINES GIRL'S LIFE.> Birthday party set up can be a rush - <THERE IS QUITE A FEW... > > From uncles on balloon duty ... to Grandmas perfecting their pinning. <MARTHA! BE GOOD! BE GOOD!> Everything is in place - to celebrate the tiny guest of honor. <HI CLARA! HI SWEETHEART! CLARA!> Clara Gaudian turned ONE on March 17th. A St. Patrick's day baby - And a family who feels áluckyá she's here. <YAYYY!> Clara entered the world - weighing only 2 pounds. <I CRAWLED INTO THE BATHROOM. I COULDN'T SPEAK. I COULDN'T TALK. I JUST KEPT YELLING.> We first introduced you to the Gaudian family one year ago - just days after Clara was born at only 28 weeks on their bathroom floor. <MY WIFE IS PREGNANT AND I THINK SHE'S HAVING THE BABY RIGHT NOW.> West Des Moines paramedics rushed there - including Lieutenant Jordan Vanscoy. <I SAID THAT IS ONE SMALL BABY> The medic with a passion for kids - scooped up Clara and rushed her to MercyOne's NICU. < WE WERE WE WERE KIND OF WORRIED ABOUT HER LUNG DEVELOPMENT AND ALSO MAKING SURE SHE STAYS WARM BECAUSE AT THAT AGE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO REGULATE THEIR TEMPERATURE.> After ten weeks in the hospital - Clara came home. Growing bigger each month, she is thriving. But the real pot of gold at the end of this rainbow - <HIIII! OH MY OH MY GOSH! LOOK HOW BIG SHE IS!> Is being reunited with the paramedic who saved her. <DO YOU WANT TO HOLD HER? YEAH! Clara is now back in the arms of the áfirstá person who ever held her. < DO DO YOU REMEMBER?> Another birthday party guest is just as special. <HII! > > Aaron Smith was the paramedic in the second ambulance. Transporting Jessica shortly after she gave birth. <ACTUALLY OUR SERMON TODAY WAS ABOUT MIRACLES, AND YOU GUYS ARE THE MIRACLES. RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME.> That moment in time led them ... right here. IT JUST MAKES ME OVERJOYED! AND JUST THE CONNECTION THAT WE HAVE WITH THE MEDIC TEAM AND THE NICU NURSES AND THAT I HAVE A BABY GIRL TO SPOIL.> <WE DON'T REALLY ALWAYS GET FOLLOW UPS ON PATIENTS AND GETTING TO SEE THOSE POSITIVE OUTCOMES IS REALLY NICE.> OH MY GOODNESS! LOOK WHAT IT IS! OH THAT'S AWESOME! OH THAT IS SO COOL. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS!> Who knew an ambulance ride would lead to unbreakable bonds. <I AM 100% JUST EXCITED AND SEEING THEM, IT'S LIKE SEEING FRIENDS AND EVERYTHING...BUT YOUR FRIENDS SAVED YOUR CHILD'S LIFE!> <LIKE A YEAR AGO ALEX AND JESS WERE LIKE TOTAL STRANGERS, AND NOW IN A YEAR THEY HAVE ALLOWED US TO BE A PART OF THEIR LIFE AND NOT JUST THAT HOUR WE SPENT WITH THEM. SO THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT'S EVER HAPPENED TO ME....IT'S BEEN SPECIAL.> For these medics to be in a room full of people - <EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM HAS HELPED US THROUGH THIS JOURNEY. IT'S NOT BEEN EASY. IT'S BEEN A HARD ROAD. THE PREGNANCY WAS HARD...> celebrating a miracle baby - <TO BE ABLE TO CELEBRATE THAT SHE IS HERE ON HER FIRST BIRTHDAY I AM SO THANKFUL FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU. SO NOW WE CAN SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY...> Is the icing on the cake. <HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR CLARA. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! Alex and Jessica Gaudian welcomed their daughter, Clara, into the world in a very unexpected way. Clara was born at 28 weeks on the family's bathroom floor. She weighed only 2 pounds.
