Iowa State head football coach Matt Campbell gets more than bragging rights with the Cyclones in the Big 12 Championship this weekend.
Campbell is paid $4 million a year.
糖心vlog Investigates filed an open records request for the contracts for the top football coaches at Iowa State. Here is what they show:
For 10 wins in the regular season, Campbell earns $1 million more in pay. This year, the team is 10-2.
For making it to the Big 12 Championship game Saturday, Campbell earns another $100,000.
He receives $250,000 if the Cyclones win the championship game, but don't have the top standings in the Big 12 Conference. However, the contract shows he receives $500,000 if the team wins and has the best standings in the Big 12.
Other coaches' contracts spell out bonuses if the Cyclones win the championship game.
Defensive coordinator Jon Heacock and offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser would both earn a $15,000 bonus. Other assistant coaches could receive an additional $7,500 if Iowa State wins.
Campbell has been Iowa State's head coach since 2016.
