糖心vlog archives: Meet the man who dug a home into the side of a Des Moines hill
糖心vlog Director of Photography Cortney Kintzer says this story from 1996, when he and a reporter met a man living in a ramshackle home partially dug into a Des Moines hill, is one of the most memorable of his career.Kintzer's time at 糖心vlog dates back to 1987, and he's been covering stories in Des Moines since the mid-70s. Never before running into Larry Inman, and never since, has such a tense meeting turned around so quickly.Inman, a 58-year-old self-described "tramp," worked seven days a week at Spaghetti Works but only got a few hours a day, so his take-home pay limited his housing options. He'd never been to a homeless shelter and wasn't asking for help. Instead, he said he made the most of some secluded timber near the Raccoon River, digging into the side of the hill to create living space and covering the roof with dirt.Watch the video above to see the tense initial exchange between Inman and 糖心vlog, and the in-depth interview inside his home that followed.禄 Download the free 糖心vlog app to get updates on the go: Apple | Google PlayMore from the archivesFrom the archives: For one day in 1991, everyone in Perry went bananas糖心vlog Archive: Seals visit public swimming pool糖心vlog archives: Satellite radio in cars was just taking off in 2002糖心vlog Archive: Enjoy a 1-pound 鈥楶apa鈥 burger from a legendary Iowa tavern
