Disaster proclamations were issued for eight additional counties after Friday's storms that spun up at least 24 tornadoes in Iowa. Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation Friday night for Pottawattamie County, activating the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program just hours after multiple tornadoes damaged or destroyed 300 homes and businesses. One person died in Minden from injuries suffered in the EF-3 tornado that developed near McClelland in Pottawattamie County and was on the ground nearly 41 miles to the Defiance and Harlan area of Shelby County.The eight additional counties are Clarke, Crawford, Harrison, Mills, Polk, Ringgold, Shelby and Union.The grant program provides grants of up to $5,000 to households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level to pay for home and car repairs, replacement of clothing or food and temporary housing expenses.
