Iowa man dies from injuries after tornado hits Minden, family members confirm
A man who was hurt during Friday's tornado in Minden, Iowa, has died of his injuries, family members confirmed to vlog sister station KETV NewsWatch 7.
The man was unconscious when first responders found him, a deputy with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office told KETV.
He was transported to the hospital and was in stable condition, authorities said. He was then moved to the ICU on Saturday, the deputy said.
County officials confirmed that three people were also injured from the tornado. They were treated and released.
The tornado , and it broke gas lines, causing gas leaks and tore down power lines.
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office estimated between 40 to 50 homes were destroyed, about half of the town.
Although she lost her machine shed, a garage, and a couple of trees, Leora Dittmer's white farm home just outside Minden remains standing.
"It was such a nerve-wracking day. You could just feel all the emotion in the air," she said. "We're very fortunate that we have our own home back."
