Hundreds of people gathered together at Wiese Park in Perry Thursday night to pray following the shooting at Perry High School earlier in the day. Candles were lit among the crowd as people stood shoulder to shoulder, singing and praying with one another. Therapy dogs were at the vigil for anyone who wanted to use them as support. Hot beverages and T-shirts that read "PERRY STRONG" were also handed out. Several faith leaders led the community in prayer and offered messages of hope, resilience, healing and forgiveness. "May this vigil be a beacon of light, illuminating the path toward healing and unity," one priest said.
