Saturday's Hawkeye Wave after the first quarter of the Cy-Hawk game was extra special for one Des Moines family.Eva Stock, of Des Moines, is a lifelong Hawkeyes fan. She and her infant daughter, Michaelyn, were in Stead Family Children's Hospital and waved back as nearly 70,000 fans waved up at them from Kinnick Stadium. Eva and Michaelyn have been at the Iowa City hospital for about a month — since Eva was air-lifted there to give birth. Michaelyn is being treated for a heart defect and a rare genetic disorder called CHARGE Syndrome. Saturday's Hawkeye Wave was a moment for Eva to celebrate her baby girl, and a moment of relief from all they've been through. "It is chilling and very humbling and it's very different to see it from this side of things," Eva said. "It makes you love our state just a little bit more." Eva said she heard from a number of people, including family in North Carolina, after she and Michaelyn were shown on the CBS Sports broadcast.Eva says it may be one of their first Hawkeye waves together, but it definitely won't be the last."We are going to a Hawkeye game out here and we are going to do the Wave from the other side," she said. "I just can't wait for that day."
