IOWA’S NEWS LEADER. POLICE TRACKED THE SHOOTING SUSPECTS FROM THE SCENE AT SOUTHWEST FIFTH STREET TO A NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR MCCREA PARK. THAT’S WHERE WE FIND vlog BEAU BOWMAN TONIGHT. BEAU, YOU WERE. THERE IS OFFICERS WRAPPED UP THE SEARCH. THAT’S RIGHT, STACEY. I’M ON CROWN COLONY COURT, WHICH IS JUST A SHORT DEAD END STREET OFF OF THOMAS BECK ROAD. AND PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE SAY THEY SAW THE SUSPECT VEHICLE DRIVE UP TO THE END OF THE CUL DE SAC HERE AND STOP RIGHT ABOUT WHERE I’M STANDING. YOU CAN SEE THE FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW BEHIND ME HERE WHERE DOZENS OF OFFICERS CHASED AFTER THEM INTO THIS WOOD, INTO THIS WOODED AREA. THESE OFFICERS SET UP THE CSI UNIT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WOODS ON BELL AVENUE. WE GOT HERE WITH SKY EIGHT AS THEY WERE FINISHING THEIR INVESTIGATION. AND YOU CAN SEE THE CANINE UNIT STILL SNIFFING AROUND THE TREES IN THE VIDEO WE CAPTURED FROM THE AIR. WITNESSES TOLD ME THIS AFTERNOON THEY STARTED TO HEAR SIRENS COMING FROM THOMAS BECK ROAD, WHICH IS NOT NECESSARILY UNUSUAL. BUT THEN THE NOISE STARTED TO GET LOUDER AND LOUDER AND EVENTUALLY TURN DOWN THIS DEAD END STREET. I LOOK OUT THE WINDOW AND I ACTUALLY SAW SOME POLICEMEN AND A GERMAN SHEPHERD RUNNING ALONG THE BACK. AND I THOUGHT, OH, YOU KNOW, WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH ALL THE TROUBLE? IT’S BEEN GOING ON AROUND SOUTH SIDE LATELY. YEAH. THIS IS ONE. BUT YOU STAY IN, KEEP YOUR DOORS LOCKED IN, YOU KNOW, LIVE WITH. AND POLICE DID EVENTUALLY TRACK THOSE SUSPECTS DOWN. THEY SAY THEY HAVE THREE IN CUSTODY, BUT NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN MADE YET. WE’RE LIVE IN DES MOINES, BEAU

Des Moines police say three people are in custody following a deadly shooting on Monday afternoon. Police tracked them from Starts Right Here to Thomas Beck Road.Police say they saw a suspicious vehicle leave the scene of the shooting. Approximately 20 minutes after the shooting incident, police conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle. Two people remained in the vehicle while Walls fled on foot. Officers followed Walls into a wooded area and had K-9 units sniffing the scene. Walls was later taken into custody without incident. Walls is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and one count of criminal gang participation.Walls is booked into the Polk County Jail.Police say the two other people remain in police custody. They have not been identified.Witnesses described the scene to vlog, saying that the noise got louder and louder around them."I look out the window and actually saw some policemen and a German shepherd running along the back," one eyewitness said. "And I thought 'Oh what's happening?'"
