UNFOLD THIS EVENING. THESE ARE THE MOMENTS AFTER THAT TACKLE. YOU CAN SEE HIS TEAMMATES AND COACHES KNEELING ON THE FIELD AS THE AMBULANCE PULLED OFF, TAKING HIM TO UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI MEDICAL CENTER. WE KNOW HAMLIN’S FAMILY WAS RUSHED OUT OF THE STANDS AND DOWN TO THE AMBULANCE. WE SPOKE WITH AN E.R. DOCTOR FROM TUFTS MEDICAL CENTER. HE IS NOT A DOCTOR OF HAMLIN’S , NOR DOES HE KNOW ANY OF THE PLAYER’S MEDICAL HISTORY, BUT BELIEVES THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SOME TYPE OF CARDIAC EPISODE, SAYING QUALITY OF CARE IS OF CRITICAL IMPORTANCE TONIGHT. >> I THINK THE IMPORTANT THING IS THE QUALITY OF CPR AND THE TIMING OF ANY KIND OF RESUSCITATIVE EFFORTS OR DEFIBRILLATION EFFORTS THAT OCCUR. THE SOONER, THE BETTER, OBVIOUSLY. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KNOW TO HAVE GREAT OUTCOMES EVEN WITH PROLONGED CARDIAC ARREST, IF THE RESUSCITATIVE EFFORTS ARE OF HIGH QUALITY. EMILY: THE DOCTOR WE SPOKE WITH TONIGHT SAYS THE DOCTORS WORKING WITH HAMLIN SHOULD KNOW WITHIN HOURS MORE ABOUT THE MEDICAL SITUATIO

Updated: 1:12 PM CST Jan 3, 2023
The National Football League has announced the game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills will not be resumed this week. The game, which kicked off Monday night, came to a halt after Buffalo defensive back Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during the first quarter. “Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment,” the Bills said in a statement. Just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the team said Hamlin spent the night at UC Medical Center's intensive care unit and is still in critical condition. In a chilling scene, Hamlin was administered CPR on the field, ESPN reported, while surrounded by teammates, some of them in tears, while they shielded him from public view. He was hurt while tackling Bengals receiver Tee Higgins on a seemingly routine play that didn't appear unusually violent. On Tuesday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said after speaking with both teams and the NFLPA leadership, the game will not be resumed this week. "The NFL has made no decision regarding the possible resumption of the game at a later date. The league has not made any changes to the Week 18 regular season schedule. We will continue to provide additional information as it becomes available," the statement reads.
