AN AMES MAN IS NOW CHARGED WITH ANIMAL ABUSE AFTER OFFICERS SAY HE SHOT A DOG IN THE HEAD BACK IN JANUARY. 33 YEAR-OLD ZACHARY BAIL ADMITTED TO SHOOTING THE DOG NAMED GOOD BOY AND LEAVING IT IN A FARM FIELD. BAIL WAS ARRESTED TODAY AND CHARGED WITH TWO AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANORS RELATING TO THE INCIDENT. GOOD BOY HAS UNDERGONE INTENSIVE CARE AND SURGERY SINCE THE SHOOTING. AMES POLICE SAY H

The owner of a dog found in Ames with bullet fragments in his head is now being charged.Zachary Bale, 33, of Ames, was arrested Friday morning by Ames police. Officers say he admitted to shooting his dog, which was found on Jan. 14 in a field near Southeast 16th Street. The dog, now called Good Boy by police, was taken to a vet clinic and received care for the bullet fragments. Good Boy is recovering at a foster care home.Bale was booked into Story County Jail. The owner of a dog found in Ames with bullet fragments in his head is now being charged.
Zachary Bale, 33, of Ames, was arrested Friday morning by Ames police. Officers say he admitted to shooting his dog, which was found on Jan. 14 in a field near Southeast 16th Street.
