One of the improvements in hospital service which have been especially urged on boards of managers within recent years is the keeping of good records, and in particular the establishment of a record system that will enable the institution to keep together all the information regarding each patient, whether the patient has been treated in the outpatient department, in the ward, or in different branches of medical or surgical services. Close relation between members of the staff organization, and particularly between the inpatient and the outpatient services, such as exists between the different branches of the hospital, has also been urged as a means of promoting a uniform and continuous policy in regard to the treatment of the patient.
