Benefits of Mandated Registries for Generating Real-World Outcome Data

Obesity is a chronic progressive multifactorial disease that causes multiple comorbidities and early mortality. Management should involve multimodal approaches and be lifelong. Metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS) is the most effective treatment for people with severe obesity, resulting in substantial sustained weight reduction with improvement in comorbidities, quality of life, and increased life expectancy.1
