To the Editor As plastic and neurosurgery residents, we read with great interest the article “Addressing Burnout in Surgery—Where Did the Yabba Dabba Doo Go?” by Lamberton et al.1 The authors address a topical paradox: to identify reasons for the increasing rate of surgical trainee burnout over the preceding decades, despite apparent fewer working hours and better working conditions.2 Although the ability to switch off from work is no longer possible because of modern technology, we believe this does not fully capture the principal reasons that lead surgical trainees in the United Kingdom to burn out.
