Twelve patients with acute drug-induced psychotic reactions were compared on a variety of clinical measures to 26 patients with acute psychotic reactions unrelated to drug abuse. The drug-induced patients tended to score prospectively higher on a number of items which have been shown to have predictive value for prognosis in psychotic states. The drug-induced patients appeared clinically similar to patients with "good premorbid" or "schizophreniform" psychotic reactions.
