To evaluate the association between adolescent BMI and the risk for all-cause, diabetic, and nondiabetic ESRD, Vivante et al linked medical data on 1 194 704 adolescents aged 17 years who were examined for military service fitness between 1967 and 1997 to the Israeli ESRD registry.
