Manual of Dermatologic Therapeutics, 6th ed

Arch Dermatol. 2003;139(7):955. doi:10.1001/archderm.139.7.955-a

This outstanding dermatological handbook has enjoyed a fine reputation since the release of the first edition. The current one, edited by Kenneth A. Arndt and Kathryn E. Bowers in collaboration with Murad Alam, Rachel Reynolds, and Sandy Tsao, has been thoroughly updated and revised to include the most recent information on pathophysiology, diagnosis, and therapy of common skin diseases. The material is concise and clear but includes the essentials. Of particular interest, the section "Treatment Principles and Formulary" presents major therapeutic principles and detailed guides for dermatological medication.

This book is not intended to be an exhaustive textbook of dermatology. Rather, designed as an educational and practical guide to therapeutics and disease management, it clearly achieves these goals. It should be an essential resource for an inclusive group of physicians, nurses, and other health care providers. For me, it is a must-have book.
