Abstract

To the Editor.—Ìý In your February 1977 issue of the Archives (113:235), the late Dr W. Reed mentioned that there was no literature on sclerodermoid porphyria cutanea tarda. It is, alas, a fact that English or American papers very seldom contain non-English references. Nevertheless, I would like to mention a paper published in 1967, in the Archives Belges de Dermatologie. The title of the paper was "La porphyrie sclérodermiforme," and the authors mentioned 12 references, including even a reference of Zimmerman, published in the April 1955 Archives.The statement of Dr Reed is a confirmation of the tendency of English-speaking writers to neglect the continental works. While it is evident that English is "the" scientific dominant language, I would like to remind your readers that other sources of bibliography still exist.
