EACH YEAR, the Archives of Dermatology chooses to honor a resident or fellow who was the first author of one of its published articles. The criteria considered for the winning article include innovation, clarity and logic of presentation, and significance. Preference is given to prospective, controlled, and randomized studies.
The recipient of the Archives of Dermatology Resident/Fellow Award for 2001-2002 is Dr Daniel Creamer, of London, England, for his article entitled "Mediation of Systemic Vascular Hyperpermeability in Severe Psoriasis by Circulating Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor."1 The research work that resulted in this publication was carried out while Dr Creamer was a Research Fellow at the St John's Institute of Dermatology, under the joint supervision of Dr Jonathan Barker at the St John's Institute and Dr Roy Bicknell of the Molecular Angiogenesis Group, Imperial Cancer Research Fund, Oxford. The data in the published article are part of a larger project investigating mechanisms in psoriatic angiogenesis.
