JAMA Health Forum is offering 3 editorial fellow positions. The fellows will receive hands-on training in the editorial processes and policies of a health policy journal and will be prepared to take an editorial role in a peer-reviewed publication at the end of the fellowship.

Who?

The JAMA Health Forum editorial fellowship is open to scholars interested in the policies that shape health, who have a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent), who are committed to the goals of the journal, and have an interest in advancing science and scholarship in the areas of focus for JAMA Health Forum. Applicants should have or be planning to have an academic position. Research experience is encouraged. We encourage early-career scholars from various underrepresented backgrounds to apply for this fellowship.

When?

The fellow will have a 1-year term, potentially renewable once, working with the journal editorial team, beginning in early 2025.

What?

The fellows will serve in 1 of 3 portfolios.

  1. A fellow will work with the Associate Editor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) on advancing the journal鈥檚 commitment to DEI.

  2. A fellow will work with the Senior Associate Editor on editorial content, engaging with work around Viewpoints, Invited Commentaries, and manuscript submissions from government and other organizations that advance ideas relevant to JAMA Health Forum.

  3. A fellow will work with the Editor in Chief on digital media, including social media, article comment moderation, and other efforts to engage the journal in the digital translational space.

Editorial fellows will have an opportunity to work with the relevant editors and attend editorial meetings as appropriate. Each fellow will receive a small stipend.

If interested, please submit a cover letter describing your interest in the fellowship, which portfolio is of interest, and its potential impact on your career. Please attach a copy of your current curriculum vitae to the incoming Editor in Chief, Sandro Galea, MD, DrPH, at jamahealthforum@jamanetwork.org

The application deadline is January 1, 2025.
