Women's basketball top 25: Iowa drops out of top 5 for first time all season
WELL, THAT IS MORE LIKE IT. AFTER FALLING FLAT IN INDIANA WITH THEIR WORST GAME OF THE SEASON, CAITLYN CLARK AND THE HAWKEYES BOUNCED BACK BIG TIME AT HOME ON SUNDAY. CHECK THIS OUT. THEY HAVE ADDED THAT LOGO TO THE LOGO HERSELF. THAT’S WHERE SHE MADE THE RECORD BREAKING SHOT. UH, COOL ADDITION AND. TALKING ABOUT ADDITION KATE MARTIN ADDING TO THE IOWA STAR. THEY GO UP NINE. NOTHING TO START THE GAME. CLARK THEN HITS A THREE. IT’S 12 SIX HAWKEYES THINGS CLICKING EARLY FOR THE FOURTH RANKED TEAM IN THE COUNTRY. SOLD OUT CROWD AT CARVER-HAWKEYE ARENA. KYLIE FEURBACH HAD THREE THREES ON THE DAY. IT’S 2410. EVERYONE GETTING INVOLVED FROM DEEP. TAYLOR MCCABE. IT’S GOOD. IOWA LED 5034 AT THE HALF. NOW CLARKE DID NOT SHOOT WELL IN THIS GAME. SHE WAS FIVE OF 14 FROM THREE. SHE DID MAKE SIX OUT OF 18 SHOTS OVERALL, BUT SHE HAD 15 REBOUNDS IN TEN ASSISTS. THAT BEAUTIFUL PASS TO HANNAH STOKEY AND THEN WATCH THIS. THE RUNNING BACK ON DEFENSE AND MOLLY DAVIS SAYS I’LL TAKE IT MOLLY D TO THE RACK IOWA UP 90 TO 70. CAITLIN CLARK FOURTH QUARTER. HOW ABOUT A THREE. THERE IT IS. SHE HAD A TRIPLE DOUBLE 24 POINTS IN THE WIN 101 85 IOWA ROLLS ON A QUOTE OFF DAY FOR THE NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR, WHO NOTCHES HER 16TH CAREER TRIPLE DOUBLE. OBVIOUSLY I DIDN’T SHOOT IT GREAT TONIGHT, BUT STILL IT WASN’T TERRIBLE. AND I THINK THAT’S THE BIGGEST THING FOR ME IS BEING ABLE TO, YOU KNOW, FORGET THAT, MOVE ON, BE ABLE TO DO OTHER THINGS FOR MY TEAM. BUT ALSO, I THINK I RESPONDED WELL IN THE SECOND HALF AND, YOU KNOW, MADE SOME BIG SHOTS FOR US, MADE A COUPLE THREES IN THE FOURTH QUARTER THAT WERE HUGE. AND THAT’S JUST SHOOTING. THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS. YOU KNOW SOME NIGHTS ARE GREAT. SOME NIGHTS ARE NOT GREAT, SOME NIGHTS ARE MEDIOCRE. AND THAT’S JUST KIND OF WHAT HAPPENS. BUT I THINK BEING ABLE TO REBOUND THE BALL AND PUSH. BUT ALSO GET MY TEAMMATES OPEN IS WHAT’S GOING TO SET ME APART AND SET THIS TEAM APART. HERE’S WHAT’S NEXT WEDNESDAY PLAN MINNESOTA AND THEN SUNDAY. LOOK AT THIS. THE REGULAR SEASON FINALE AT NOON AGAINST NUMBER TWO OHIO STATE. AND TODAY ESPN ANNOUNCED THAT COLLEGE GAME DAY WILL DO THEIR VERY POPULAR LIVE
