Woman spends week in the hospital after pedicure causes infection
A Florida woman blames her nail salon for a week-long hospital stay.
Tara Batista is still undergoing treatment after contracting a severe bacterial infection just after getting a pedicure at the salon. There's no evidence to suggest the nail salon was the source of the infection, but Batista is convinced.
Batista said she began to feel weak hours after leaving nail image in Tampa. A day a half later, she could not stand on her left leg, and family members had to drive her to the emergency room.
"Next thing I know, they tell me I am going into surgery," Batista said. "The infection has reached my bones."
Medical records show she suffered a deep abscess triggered by a bacterial infection on her left big toe.
Batista will now be tethered to a medicine delivering pic line in her arm for a total of six weeks, including the day of her wedding in November.
"This is not what I envisioned for my wedding," Batista said.
