Walker Hayes's newborn daughter with wife Laney Hayes has died, the singer confirmed on social media Wednesday.
“It is with great sadness that Laney and I share with you the news that our sweet Oakleigh Klover Hayes was born this morning at the hospital and now is safely in heaven," the statement read. "Thank you for honoring our privacy as we grieve."
According to , Laney's pregnancy was full term and the couple's daughter died just a few days before her due date. The couple did not release details about the cause of their child's death.
In April, a very pregnant Lacey walked alongside Walker at the American Country Music Awards, and on Mother's Day, Walker shared a cute tribute to his wife on social media.
Oakleigh Klover was the couple's seventh child. The pair also has three daughters and three sons, ages 2 to 11.
As the CMT Awards aired Wednesday night, fans began to wonder why Walker had not taken the stage since the "You Broke Up With Me” singer was scheduled to perform. "Did I miss something??? I thought was performing at the . Did I go to the bathroom at the wrong time or something??????" one user wrote.
Soon after, Walker announced the sad news of his daughter's passing on social media, and also shared that he is taking some additional time off and has canceled his immediate upcoming appearances to "be home with Laney and their children."
