'If it can happen to her, it can happen to anybody': 10-year-old dies after 5-day COVID-19 battle
A 10-year-old girl in Virginia died earlier this week from COVID-19 complications after a five-day battle.
Nicole Sperry said her daughter Teresa was healthy and had never had anything more serious than a cold prior to her COVID-19 diagnosis in September.
"She was learning how to roller skate. And I was gonna buy roller skates for Christmas. And that's not gonna happen now," Sperry told WTKR-TV.
The fifth-grader had three brothers and was a happy person, her parents said.
"She was just the type of friend that you always want to have. No matter what, no matter who you are," Sperry told the TV station.
The girl's symptoms started with a headache on Sept. 22 and worsened from there, according to her parents.
