Viral photo: Kind stranger saves mom in the middle of Target meltdown
A Texas mom's heartfelt thanks to a complete stranger is going viral in Facebook groups around the world.
Rebecca Paterson said in a March 19 post that she was shopping at Target with her two children when the unthinkable happened: Both the 2-year-old and the 2-month-old had simultaneous meltdowns, giving the universal signal for, "It's time to leave Target immediately."
Paterson had given up on the shopping trip and was putting things back on the shelf when she was approached by a woman offering help, she said in her post.
The woman was another Pearland mom, Tiffany Jones-Guillory, who offered to walk with Paterson and hold her toddler, and showed the little boy photos of her own children.
"She walked with me while I got the essentials needed for the day and kept hold of my toddler while he calmed down," Paterson said.
"She saved me today moms!!! I am so sleep deprived and was running on empty. A little kindness and understanding goes a long way."
Jones-Guillory said she's been overwhelmed by the response to her act of kindness from people on social media.
"I was just trying to do something nice from mom to mom, because I've been in that situation before," she said.
Jones-Guillory said she was shopping on her day off when she noticed Paterson struggling nearby. She said she is equally grateful to Paterson for trusting a stranger and giving her an opportunity to help.
"I heard how frustrated she was, and I wanted to be her guardian angel on that day," Jones-Guillory said. "I'm just hoping and praying that more people can be inspired by this story to do the same thing."
