The heartwarming conclusion to the story of one former Marine's goal to remodel the home of a Vietnam War veteran for free is finally here.
James "Skip" Hampton was living in poor conditions in a home that was literally falling apart, but he had no financial or physical means to make the repairs it needed. That's when Alex Cardenas stepped in and volunteered to help in July 2018.
News of the project spread across the community and beyond, leading to donations of money and labor to help with the home renovation from people all over. Approximately a month after the project began, Cardenas brought Hampton into his new home for the first time. The reaction was priceless.
