So many reasons to 'Eat, Play, Stay' in Pella

So many reasons to 'Eat, Play, Stay' in Pella
We're in Pella, Iowa, *** charming Midwest town with *** big rock in it and *** big windmill. Welcome to the most beautiful place in Iowa. You look at an authentic reproduction of an 18 hundreds Dutch windmill, an 18 hundreds Dutch windmill in Iowa. Why Valerie Van Kooten knows she's director of the Pella Historical Society and museums. Pella was founded in 1847 by approximately 800 Dutchmen Dutch women who came from the Netherlands with Pella founder Hendrik Peter Skol or Domini Culti. We call him Domini is *** Dutch word for pastor and they settled Pella on the Prairie at that time and it became *** growing thriving town. Pella historical museums include the Vermeer windmill, the tallest working windmill in the US behind the windmill. You'll find *** historical village that includes the boyhood home of Wyatt Earp. And we also have the culty house on the north side of the square built in 1847. The windmill tour is *** great way to see the entire city of Pella and see what *** typical windmill was like in the 18 fifties. It is *** working mill. It is *** licensed mill, the windmill may be big, but the tour also has *** few little surprises inside. On the second floor is *** miniature village that has been worked on and added to for nearly *** century. Then you go to the top of the mill and you can stand out on the platform and see the entire city of Pella. Now, if you're *** Dutch windmill expert like myself, you're also thinking, hey, this isn't exactly how the Dutch would have built this. There is two things about this windmill that is not authentic. I knew it to be fair though. I learned everything I know about Dutch windmills from our tour guide. First of all is the roof. You see the cedar shingles, you would never see that in the Netherlands. Any idea what the roofs were made from in the Netherlands? Is it chocolate straw? Ah, yes. Straw. That was going to be my fourth guess. Of course, we wanted the straw roof here. Uh, but the local fire department did not think that it was *** good idea. So we went there with *** bottle of whiskey and asked them if they wanted to, you know, make an exception. But no, we couldn't get that through. So we had to go with cedar instead. Smart. That's probably for the best.
