President-elect Donald Trump has picked billionaire Jared Isaacman to head NASA. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Isaacman will drive NASA's mission of discovery and inspiration, paving the way for groundbreaking achievement in space science, technology and exploration. Isaacman is most known for his work on the Polaris Dawn program, which he funded. Isaacman was one of four civilian astronauts who made record-breaking heights on the Polaris Dawn mission. It was his second trip to space.In a post on X, Isaacman said he is honored by the nomination and reaffirmed NASA's goals of reaching the Moon and Mars. "Having been fortunate to see our amazing planet from space, I am passionate about America leading the most incredible adventure in human history," he said.
