JOINING US WITH TIPS FROM MEDITATING AT HOME IS JASON WIL WILLIAMS. THANKS FOR JOINING US. >> HOW YOU DOING? JENNIFER: NOT EVERYBODY IS INTO MEDITATING. WHAT DO YOU TELL PEOPLE WHEN IT COMES TO RELAXATION? >> THE FIRST THING IS TO FIND A NICE, QUIET SPACE. CREATE A SPACE IN YOUR HOME THAT'S COMFORTABLE FOR YOU. THE MORE RELAXED YOUR BODY IS GOING TO BE, THE MORE RELAXED YOUR MIND WILL BE. JENNIFER: BREATHING IS SUPER IMPORTANT TOO, RIGHT? >> VERY IMPORTANT. >> YOU ALSO WORK WITH KIDS. TELL ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT YOU DO TO SORT OF GET THEM MOVING, BOTH PHYSICALLY AND HELPING THEIR MINDS. >> YEAH, SO FOR KIDS, IT'S VERY IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO MOVE. ALSO, ANYTHING TO DO THAT'S FUN RELATED AND SPORTS RELATED WILL HELP. KIND OF JUST RELAX THEIR MIND AND BE MORE FOCUSED ON THE PRESENT MOMENT AWARENESS. THAT'S ULTIMATELY THE KEY, KIND OF THE MEDITATION. EVEN WITH JUST MOVEMENT, IT PUTS YOU IN THE NOW SO YOU'RE NOT THINKING ABOUT THE PAST, YOU'RE NOT THINKING ABOUT THE FUTURE. JENNIFER: WHEN YOU'RE MEDITATING, WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO BE THINKING ABOUT? >> NOTHING. JENNIFER: IT'S HARD TO TURN YOUR BRAIN OFF. >> THE KEY IS MOST PEOPLE THINK IT'S NOT ABOUT THINKING ABOUT ANYTHING. IT'S KIND OF CONTRADICTORY. YOU'RE ALLOWED TO THINK ABOUT WHATEVER YOU LIKE. YOUR MIND WILL START TO DESTRESS. IT TAKES ABOUT 17 MINUTES FOR YOUR MIND TO COME TO ONE THOUGHT HERE, ONE THOUGHT THERE, INSTEAD OF A BUNCH OF THOUGHT. JENNIFER: WHAT IF PEOPLE CAN'T SIT STILL THAT LONG, IF YOU'RE ALWAYS ON THE GO AND HAVING THINGS TO JUGGLE, 17 MINUTES COULD BE AN ETERNITY. >> RIGHT. I SAY START WITH FIVE. IT'S LIKE ANY OTHER PRACTICE OR EXERCISE, START WITH FIVE MINUTES, AND THEN ALLOW YOUR MIND TO THINK ABOUT WHATEVER IT LIKES. YOU'LL SLOWLY START TO SEE THAT CALM DOWN, ALMOST LIKE AN AUTOMATIC TRIGGER THAT WE HAVE. >> WHAT'S THE NUMBER ONE MAYBE COMPLAINT YOU'RE HEARING FROM CLIENTS RIGHT NOW? >> RIGHT NOW, PROBABLY THE STRESS AND THE KIND OF MONOTONY OF BEING AT HOME. THIS IS WHY MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPORTANT. TAKING TIME FOR YOURSELF, WHETHER IT'S TO MOVE, EAT RIGHT, SLEEP, AND, YOU KNOW, MEDITATE, BE ONE WITH YOURSELF SO GIVE YOURSELF THAT FIVE MINUTES.
