Though worlds apart, these authors are helping kids cope with coronavirus anxiety
They may be living worlds apart, but these two authors are doing their part to help explain COVID-19 to young readers.
Diane Alber is a children’s author from Phoenix. Her book, A Little Spot of Optimism, was written to help children stay positive during hard times.
She also wrote A Little Spot Stays Home to help parents explain social distancing to their children.
"I wanted to get this out to families because I wanted them to be able to talk with their children in a positive way about the situation and try to look at all of the positive things that could come from it and happening during this time, because it’s so easy to focus on the negative," Alber said.
All the way in Australia, author Divya Mohan quickly wrote a book called Fight The Germs, which takes place at a virtual birthday party and teaches children they can be empowered during this crisis simply by washing their hands.
"I could see the anxiety building in children and I wanted to do something about it," Mohan said.
